I was wondering what everyone else, and especially Tim, feels about Home Improvement's longevity, and the continued interest in the show to this day.

I myself as just short of 21. I remember watching the show all the time when it initially aired, but now that I am older I feel like I really get the show more. It's now more than a guy hurting himself. Now I love the show even more than I did in the 90s. Also, being at college, I have spoken to other people who feel the same way. I feel like the show still has a special place in people's hearts and lives, and the show is still as funny as ever. I would even say it has almost proven itself to be timeless in many ways. (I even spend a semester in a media class analyzing the show, based upon my choosing.)

What do you all think?

Home Improvement is a show that grows every time you watch it.

I know the show just 5 years now from reruns in Germany. I remember it just like yesterday when I first saw it. I sat in my room with the TV on and suddenly I thought."Hey,what is that - it is sooo funny!!!" It was an episode with one of those accidents.
I am a kind of person when I like something I want to know everything about it. So I searched the internet and first get to know about Tim Allens life. It fascinated me that someone who has suffered a lot in his life had such a great great humour and the strength to produce such a wonderful TV-show for such a long time.
I also learned that so much on the show was authentic ( just a simple example: I love when they cook something and there is steam coming out of the pot.) But the more serious things are true, too.

Then I got the DVDs and watched the original shows. I love the deep voices of Tim and Earl Hindman and all the humour of the original which don`t come out in the german dubbing.
Today I watched the interview again with Tim on the DVD with his first concerts. There he says himself that there is much more about HI than just a grunting "stupid" guy who destroys everything. There is so much in this show - it is about family life, education, and overcoming problems with humour. I think it is also a show about getting older and have responsibilities that one does not have when one is younger.

I could go on and on - I just LOVE it !!!

I agree that HI is one of the few timeless shows. At least it is in my house, where I STILL watch a couple of shows every weekday during lunch.
Even though I've seen every episode AT LEAST twice, I still discover (as the first time) very funny, and poignant moments that surprise me.
One of my favorite ~quotes (impossible to pick THE best)
"I have this strange, vaguely disturbing feeling that there might actually be something to me!"
