Tim,
I recently watched the Tool Time episode where they smash your Nomad. Please tell me that was a stand-in of some sort. I think the one crushed was not a Nomad but a 2 door wagon. Either way it brought a tear to my eye. Rolling Eyes

That´s a question i would like to ask, too.
I always skip that scene when i´m watching the DVD. But if you look at the wreck when it´s in the body shop you can see it is completely black inside, even the paint on the doors. Plus, the Nomad is back in later episodes, so the one used in the crush scene was most likely a brushed up junker.

If you guys get a chance take a look at this link. www.tri-5.com There is a good story about an American car '56 Chevy and a guy in Germany that restored it in the international section.

I figured it was not the real Nomad he had but didn't like to see any 50 year old cars crushed. We have done that in our scrap business here forever and it has made parts for these cars hard to come by.

At the end of the show they showed Tim standing next to the pristine Nomad and showing the wrecked one. He said "you really think we wrecked this one?" and made a reference to the smashed one as Jeffrey Katzenberg's car.

I'd love to have a Nomad, but if you look them up on the web, very, very expensive and probably not near as tricked out as the one "Jill" had.

I saw it in the out takes for the show Crazy Crane, but sometimes they show different outtakes. I would suggest renting the dvds - should be on there somewhere. If I can find it on YouTube, I'll let you know.

The TV Series was called Home Improvement, Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor (Tim Taylor), who had a show called Tool Time. His wife, Jillian "Jill" Taylor (Patricia Richardson) owned the 1955 red Chevy Nomad Station Wagon [License plate 964-J57. Jill's husband, Tim, who loved hot rods, routinely serviced the vehicle and nagged Jill to take good care of the car - like monitoring its vital fluids and oil levels. Unfortunately, on episode #76 "Don't Tell Mamma" Tim totaled the Nomad when a steel I-beam, suspended from a crane at one of his TV show location sites, accidentally dropped on the car. Of course, Tim quickly reconstructed the car to save face and to keep his wife from killing him.

And... before Chevy nuts start jumping up and down and screaming obscenities at Tim Allen, the car that had the steel beam dropped on it was a 'cheap' stand-in. The car that was crushed was a rusted-out-hulk of a standard 55 2-door wagon with a fresh coat of paint slapped on so it would 'pass for' the Nomad. If you look at the beam-drop scene carefully, and the wreck of the car in Tim's garage afterwards, it's obvious this is NOT a Nomad.
