Tim is awesome in this movie. Why does he not do more roles like this? Is it because the public generally likes to see him as the buffoonish Tim Taylor/Santa Claus-ish family man and has trouble accepting him as anything but that?

Well, in defense of that - 'dying is easy, comedy is hard.' Smile

I think critics are not good with Tim, I mean it.
His movies are always really good. I enjoyed a lot with for Richer or for Poorer, Galaxy Quest, Joe Somebody and they... uf, It is so relative what they say but they are so cruel with him sometimes.
Really, I think he is one of the best comedians!! For me, the best!!

I just don't think this movie got the push it sould have gotten. Perhaps it was just too out there? I really don't care, I loved it! I keep wondering if anyone thinks to send Tim more scripts like this...?

Cletis Tout is by far the best film Tim has made. And Galaxy Quest is his best comedy. Just my opinion.

And mine. I really would like to see some more stuff like that with "our" Tim in it. For example, I would really like to see him do more science Fiction like G.Q., funny or not. He looked good in a space ship. lol

I would love to see Galaxy Quest part 2--I think Ta did a great job, and I saw someplace that, Galaxy Quest was in the Top 100 of the top funniest movies.

I thought the hit man was a very poignant character, because he would only allow himself to relate emotionally to fictional people that he saw on screen.

Otherwise he didn't seem to have any particular feelings for the rest of humanity in the RW... that is until that ex-con started telling him a movie-like story about his predicament. It might have been the first time that the hit man felt any attachment to other people. He helped him and his girlfriend because he needed to see a Hollywood ending in real life. Trippy!

But I did think it was pretty darned funny when he got indignant with the graffitti artists in the subway, and made them graffitti each other at gun-point. Gotta wonder how exactly his value-system worked when killing people was okay, but defacing public property was not. Twisted Evil

Thank you for that one. When I saw that scene I roared! My husband could not figure out why I loved that so much. I lived in South Central L.A. for five years and got so tired of taggers, I really was proud of Jim for showing the moving taggers "the error of their ways.". LOVED IT!

Y'know, I've been trying to get my dad to watch this film. I'm sure he could definitely ID with Critical Jim, "who loves two things - his job and old movies..."
